Recycling used cooking oil helps divert thousands of pounds of oil and grease away from sewers, preventing major clogs and issues. Last week the District was pleased to host a workshop in partnership with the Water Technology Alliance (WTA), part of the Consulate General of Denmark in Chicago. The workshop titled “From Energy Consumer to Energy Producer: The American WWTP of the Future” addressed practical methods and tools to achieve energy neutral wastewater treatment.

On Saturday, June 10, District employees joined a group from First United Methodist Church, Downers Grove for the annual DuPage County River Sweep. Volunteers picked up about 17 garbage bags full of debris along St. Joseph Creek behind our wastewater treatment plant.
