District performs Walnut Ave. sewer lining rehabilitation project


Beginning on Monday, Oct. 30, the District will start rehabilitation of approximately 3,500 feet of mainline sanitary sewer and the rehabilitation of 22 manholes located in the road and parkways of Walnut Avenue in Downers Grove. Recycle your cooking oil this Thanksgiving


If you’re frying a turkey this Thanksgiving, be sure to recycle all that cooking oil! Recycling used cooking oil helps divert thousands of pounds of oil and grease away from sewers, preventing major clogs and issues. DGSD Hosts Water Technology Alliance Workshop


Last week the District was pleased to host a workshop in partnership with the Water Technology Alliance (WTA), part of the Consulate General of Denmark in Chicago. The workshop titled “From Energy Consumer to Energy Producer: The American WWTP of the Future” addressed practical methods and tools to achieve energy neutral wastewater treatment.


Volunteers Clean St. Joseph Creek During DuPage County River Sweep


On Saturday, June 10, District employees joined a group from First United Methodist Church, Downers Grove for the annual DuPage County River Sweep. Volunteers picked up about 17 garbage bags full of debris along St. Joseph Creek behind our wastewater treatment plant. Items such as glass bottles, cans, a truck tire, parts of a car seat and much more were removed.
