On Saturday, May 18, the District participated in the annual DuPage County River Sweep with a group from the Downers Grove First United Methodist Church. Volunteers picked up about 12 garbage bags full of debris along St. Joseph Creek south of our wastewater treatment plant. They even removed larger items like boards and pipes. The District recently signed a Wastewater Flagship Project agreement with the Water Technology Alliance (WTA), a Danish water utility consortium operating out of the Danish Consulate in Chicago. The agreement recognizes the wastewater treatment center as a Wastewater Flagship, an example of Danish methods and technologies that optimize processes with a particular emphasis on the energy profile of the facility.
